About the Artist

Meet the creator behind the fiber art made with identity, intention, and soul.

Hi, I'm Danyel, the creative force behind Kreative Artisan Threads, where Afrocentric soul meets anime influence and textured storytelling. I tuft from my Maryland studio, one piece at a time, with a tufting gun and a whole lot of intention.

I started KAT because I needed art that felt like me, bold, soft, cultural, and a little nerdy. What began as a personal creative outlet became something bigger: a studio where collectors, creatives, and community members find pieces that feel like home.

Every piece I make is one of one. When it sells, it's gone unless you commission a remake. My collectors know this. Many refuse to let anyone walk on their pieces. Some frame them. Others keep them in their bedrooms as sanctuary art. That's the connection I create.

KAT is for the soft, the bold, the Black, the queer, the spiritual, the ADHD-brained, and anyone who knows the power of art that feels like home.

Thank you to my wife, my kids, my mom, and my best friend for being my #1 supporters on this journey. Your love means everything. ✨

"I'm not just an artist. I'm a maker. A storyteller. A truth-teller with a tufting gun."

— Danyel, Founder of Kreative Artisan Threads

What Makes K.A.T Different

I don't mass-produce décor. Every piece is hand-tufted in my Maryland studio, carved, dimensional, and layered with intention. From character-inspired desk textiles to altar art and wall sculptures, each creation is a blend of function, identity, and freedom.

These are functional fiber art paintings. Flat in form, bold in texture, and made to be lived with, not just displayed. Traditional décor serves a space. My work transforms it.

From Concept to Finished Piece

Every KAT piece goes through the same intentional process, here’s a real look at how it comes to life.

Why I Do This

As someone living with ADHD, tufting is how I regulate my mind and connect to purpose. It brings softness and intention into a loud world. Through yarn, I offer sanctuary, representation, and radical joy.

My mission is to craft fiber art that holds space for joy, identity, softness, and representation, especially for those who are often unseen. I tuft for the misfits, the makers, the seekers, the Black, the queer, and the neurodivergent. Every stitch is an act of care.

"Amazing attention to detail. I ordered a custom piece, and Danyel kept me updated throughout the whole process. When it arrived, I literally cried. It's exactly what I envisioned."

Fiber Art vs. Floor Décor

These are not rugs. They are functional fiber art paintings.

Traditional décor is made to serve a space. My work is made to transform it to be seen, felt, honored, and lived with. Whether it hangs on your wall, rests on your altar, brightens your desk, or grounds your meditation space, each piece carries story, texture, and spirit.
