Care & Intention: Keeping Your Functional Fiber Art Beautiful

Your K.A.T. fiber art was made with softness, identity, and intention, designed to live with you, not beneath you. With simple, mindful care, your piece will stay vibrant, dimensional, and full of story for years to come.

General Care

  • Each piece is hand-tufted using hypoallergenic, 100% acrylic yarn.
  • Best displayed as wall art, altar décor, desk accents, pillow covers, sculptural footstools, or purse charms/wearable pieces.
  • Floor placement is fine for personal-use pieces, but avoid high-traffic areas to protect carving and softness.
  • Heavier pieces may benefit from a wall anchor or double command strips for secure hanging.

Cleaning Tips

  • Refresh fibers by gently shaking or using a handheld vacuum on an upholstery setting.
  • For spot cleaning, use a mild soap + damp cloth, never soak or scrub.
  • Pillows: Spot clean only; avoid removing inner padding unless necessary.
  • Footstools: Wipe base/legs as usual; treat the tufted top like functional fiber art.
  • Purse charms/wearable fiber art: Keep away from lotions, oils, and rough surfaces; spot clean lightly when needed.

Framed Pieces

  • Whether mounted in an open frame or protected behind glass, framed fiber art still collects dust.
  • Open frames: Light vacuuming or a soft brush every few weeks keeps fibers clean.
  • Framed behind glass: Dust the glass regularly; fibers inside require minimal care.
  • Keep framed art out of direct sunlight to preserve depth and color.

Hanging & Display

  • Use command strips, Velcro, nails, or gallery hooks depending on weight.
  • Avoid direct sunlight to protect color vibrancy and fiber integrity.
  • Rotate altar or desk pieces occasionally to maintain even wear.
  • If storing seasonally, keep in a dry, cool, breathable space (no plastic bags).

Long-Term Maintenance

  • Avoid stacking heavy items on top of any fiber art, especially carved, textured, or 3D pieces.
  • If a yarn tail appears, snip gently; do not pull.
  • For pillows and footstools, fluff lightly to retain shape and dimension.

Please Avoid

  • No machine wash
  • No dryer or heat
  • No bleach or harsh chemicals
  • No soaking or aggressive scrubbing
  • No pulling loose fibers
  • No high-traffic placement unless the piece was designed for it
